Courtney Vanous

Courtney Vanous

As a child, Courtney was always considered “a ham.”  She loved putting on shows for her family and friends from interpretive dance, puppet shows, plays, and vocal performances.  Courtney initially focused on musical performance, playing the French horn in operas, musicals, and quintets, but later decided that she enjoyed the freedom of physical performance.  Courtney’s circus training did not begin until after she met Scott in 2013, at which point she devoted much of her free time to learning everything she could.  She performs solo and partner lyra and is the flyer in Acro Duo Courtney and Scott.

Scott Renkes

Scott Renkes

Scott had similar beginnings to Courtney.  He loved performing in plays and musical theater.  His circus career began in 2004 when he started training flying trapeze and learned that he enjoyed catching even more than flying.  He then dabbled in several different circus arts including silks and mime before deciding that hand balancing and partner acrobatics were his prefered disciplines.

Acro Duo Courtney & Scott

Coming together in 2013 and performing together for the first time in 2014, Acro Duo Courtney & Scott is a collaboration of two creative souls eager to share their skills and characters with the world.  They specialize in walk-around acrobatics and stage acts.  Their training includes the world-renowned Dutch Acrobatics Festival and training with instructors such as Pavel Karima, Jerome Le Baut, and Natalia Ademiecka, Duo Die, and Nathan and Isis.  Courtney & Scott love performing and especially enjoy developing narrative circus shows.
